Nagaon, Assam's fashion luminary, Sanjukta Dutta, renowned for her distinctive Mekhela Chador garments, is poised to enchant audiences at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. On May 25, Dutta will grace the red carpet in her exquisite designs, accompanied by supermodels Mirka Oktavia Hendro and Valeriya Hjertenaes, who will also showcase her creations.

 

Expressing her enthusiasm for Cannes 2024, Dutta remarked, "The thrill of this year's Cannes theme is indescribable. It's a privilege to display my collection at such a prestigious event. This theme aligns perfectly with my design ethos, allowing me to delve into India's rich craftsmanship while pushing the boundaries of modern fashion."

Dutta’s creations have previously been showcased at Milan, Paris, and New York Fashion Weeks. In 2019, her Assamese silk gown was worn by 'Top Model UK' winner Ingrida Ilgine at Cannes. In 2023, models Ingrida Ilgine and Marika Howard also graced the Cannes red carpet in her designs.

 

In addition to her international acclaim, Dutta has styled numerous Bollywood stars, including Priyanka Chopra, Malaika Arora, Sonakshi Sinha, and others, making her a celebrated name in the fashion industry.
