Airyday: The Australian Suncare Brand Betting on Wearability to Fix Britain's SPF Habit

Australian suncare brand Airyday has launched in the UK, arriving with a clear premise: sunscreen only works if people actually want to wear it.
The gap it's targeting is a real one. A recent OnePoll survey found that just one in six Brits wear sunscreen daily, and more than three-quarters still treat sun protection as something for holidays or heatwaves rather than a daily habit. Airyday's answer is a range of what it calls "Skinscreens," built to feel less like sunscreen and more like the skincare or makeup people already reach for without thinking twice. Every formula starts with broad-spectrum SPF 50, then is developed with textures and finishes meant to sit under makeup or replace a moisturizer or primer altogether, without the chalky cast, greasy finish, or heavy scent that puts people off.
The brand traces back to founder Frances van der Velden, who was diagnosed with skin cancer at 36 and grew frustrated with how unwearable most sunscreens felt day to day. "Airyday was born because I wanted to create formulas people would genuinely want to wear every day," she says. Products that protect, feel beautiful on skin, and fit seamlessly into real routines. If sunscreen feels good, people use it. That was the starting point."
The UK debut brings six SPF formulas rather than a single do-it-all product, treating sunscreen selection the way skincare shoppers already choose serums or moisturizers, by skin type, finish, and season. Three of the six lean into a sheer, glow-enhancing finish. The rest include an invisible hydrating gel, a lightweight mineral mousse for oily and combination skin, and a calming zinc-based formula for sensitive or breakout-prone skin. Two overnight sleep masks round out the range, positioned for skin that's had a heavier dose of sun during the day.
Airyday is now available in the UK through airyday.co.uk.
