AK|OK, the ready-to-wear label from Anamika Khanna, has launched its first international collection, AKOK Resort, in an exclusive shop-in-shop at Selfridges London, a move the brand frames as a landmark moment for contemporary Indian design on the world stage. It is a meaningful step for a label whose founder has some claim to having opened these doors in the first place, since Khanna was the first Indian designer to show at Paris Fashion Week when she debuted there in 2007 and remains one of the country's most influential contemporary voices. The label, created in partnership with Reliance Brands and creatively directed by Khanna alongside her sons Vishesh and Viraj, already retails across India and has a presence at Saks Fifth Avenue in the United States, but a curated space inside Selfridges takes it into international multi-brand retail for the first time.

The collection itself is built around ease rather than occasion. Resort, in the brand's telling, is treated not as a destination but as a state of mind, with clothing designed to move through cities, coastlines, and long journeys without demanding attention, and the label describes garments intended to carry less urgency and more freedom. The fabrics do much of that work, lightweight cottons, washed linens, fluid silks, and airy knits shaping silhouettes the brand describes as relaxed without losing structure, where tailoring softens and layering becomes instinctive.

The palette is deliberately muted and sun-worn, drawn, as the brand puts it, from sun-faded memories: chalk, stone, sand, weathered olive, washed indigo, burnt earth, and a quiet black, with color appearing gently rather than boldly, as though it has lived under the sun. In keeping with the label's approach, the detailing is understated and tactile rather than decorative, with raw edges, softened seams, subtle embroidery, and handcrafted surfaces that the brand says reveal themselves over time, on pieces designed to grow more personal with wear. True to AK|OK's identity, the collection is gender-fluid and seasonless, made to be collected, layered, and lived in rather than styled to a prescription.

Launching at Selfridges places the label inside one of the world's most recognizable fashion destinations. Founded by Harry Gordon Selfridge in 1909 and long known for its theatrical approach to retail and curation, the Oxford Street flagship carries over 300 brands and trades on its reputation as a place to discover what comes next in fashion and a dedicated AK|OK space there is a considered statement of intent about where the brand sees itself in the global conversation.

Designed in India and, as the brand puts it, made to travel anywhere, AKOK Resort is available exclusively at Selfridges London.
