We received this product for review from the brand. Dipsy is a name we have covered before with their debut Malli Malli moisturizer, and Teja Mandara is their second launch, a gel-to-milk double cleanser and makeup remover built around Indian botanicals. Given how much we appreciated the thought behind Malli Malli, we came to this one with genuine curiosity.
The name alone says a lot about the brand's philosophy. Teja comes from Tamil, meaning radiance and inner light, and Mandara is the Telugu word for hibiscus, the hero botanical in the formula. Dipsy consistently draws its naming from the ingredients and languages rooted in the Indian subcontinent, which feels intentional rather than decorative.
The one thing that stood out most from the very first use is that this cleanser is completely fragrance-free. No added scent, no floral overlay, nothing masking anything. For anyone with sensitive skin or a low tolerance for fragrances in skincare, this is a significant detail and genuinely the first thing we noticed and loved. It is a bolder choice for a brand to make in a market where most cleansers use fragrance as a selling point, and Dipsy has clearly prioritized skin health over sensory appeal here.
The formula itself works in two phases. It goes on as a gel, which melts into the skin and begins dissolving makeup, sunscreen, excess oil, and the general residue of the day. On contact with water, it transforms into a milky emulsion that lifts everything cleanly and rinses off without leaving the skin feeling tight, stripped, or dry. The transition between the two phases is smooth, and the rinse is genuinely clean.
The botanical backbone of the formula is built around four Indian-origin ingredients. Hibiscus softens and revitalizes the skin and is also naturally rich in alpha hydroxy acids, making it a gentle exfoliating botanical that works quietly in the background. Moringa is one of the most nutrient-dense plants in Indian traditional care, rich in vitamins A, C, and E and known for its ability to nourish and replenish the skin even during the cleansing step. Alkanet root is a traditional Indian botanical with strong soothing properties, particularly useful for calming irritation or redness. Ginger Lily adds a very subtle aromatic note to what is otherwise a completely unscented product, grounding the experience without introducing any synthetic fragrance.
It is non-comedogenic, vegan, cruelty-free, and suited for all skin types. The formula is designed for Indian weather conditions and works equally well for AM and PM cleansing. For heavier makeup or long-wear sunscreen, a second cleanse gives a deeper reset, and the texture handles both rounds without over-stripping.
