A little about the brand before we get into what works. In 1958 Chicco began its journey in Como, Italy, and for more than six decades has been building its reputation as one of the world’s most trusted brands for baby care. It is present in over 120 countries, and its products are developed in its own research center, always keeping in mind the safety of delicate and sensitive skin from the first days of life.

My almost four-year-old has been using the Baby Moments Gentle Body Wash and Shampoo, and it has been a simple, reliable part of bath time for some time now. It is a 2-in-1 formula, which means it is a body wash and shampoo. This makes the routine easy without any compromise in care.

The formula is 92 percent natural ingredients, and the ingredient list shows it. The main surfactants are Cocamidopropyl Betaine and Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, which are among the mildest surfactants available and are often used in baby and sensitive skin products because they are gentle and cause little irritation. Decyl glucoside and coco glucoside are plant-based surfactants that cleanse without stripping the skin of its natural moisture. Glycerin attracts water to the skin and helps to trap it, leaving skin soft and hydrated after every wash. Propanediol is a plant-derived humectant, which is a fancy way of saying it helps maintain moisture levels and helps other ingredients work more effectively. Glyceryl oleate is an emollient derived from olive oil that softens and helps maintain the skin’s natural barrier.

The two star ingredients from nature are Avena Sativa, which is the extract of oat bran, a well-established skin soother that calms irritation and provides gentle nourishment; and Prunus Americana, which is apricot extract, a beneficial source of hydration that keeps the skin feeling moisturized well after bath time. Polyquaternium-10 is a conditioning ingredient that detangles and softens a baby's hair without weighing it down. Ethylhexyl Glycerin and Caprylyl Glycol are mild preservative boosters that work synergistically, and both are considered much safer alternatives to parabens. The main preservative is sodium benzoate, and it works well at low concentrations. Fragrance is a key ingredient to be cautious of when dealing with highly sensitive skin.

It is free from phenoxyethanol, parabens, SLS, SLES, alcohol, dyes, and tropolone – a strong safety profile for a baby product. Its no-tears formula is gentle on the eyes with a pH balance. It is dermatologically tested on sensitive skin.

The lather is excellent in use, rinses clean, and leaves the skin and hair feeling soft and not dry at all. It makes bath time easier, and skin feels truly cared for after every wash.
