San Marco: The Ceiling Lamp Bringing Venetian Glassmaking Into Your Living Room

Cattelan Italia's new San Marco ceiling lamp takes its cues from centuries-old Venetian glassmaking, translated into a piece that feels as much like a sculptural object as a light fixture. The oval glass shades come in two soft, unexpected hues, kiwi and peach, each one blown using techniques associated with Murano's glass tradition.

There are two finishes to choose from. One shade fades gradually from a rich, solid color into transparency, almost like watching color dissolve into light. The other reworks Rigadin, the fine grooved texture that's long been a signature of Murano glasswork, giving the shade a delicate, ridged surface that catches light beautifully.

What makes San Marco especially livable is how it handles light itself. A downward-facing source provides practical brightness, while an interior light hidden in the colored glass creates a soft, glowing aura, offering both function and atmosphere in one fixture.
