KEF's New LS LUXE Pairs Ross Lovegrove's Design with Its Latest Acoustic Technology

KEF has announced the LS LUXE, a luxury wireless speaker developed in partnership with the designer Ross Lovegrove, and it arrives carrying both a distinctive sculptural form and a set of new technologies the brand is introducing with it. The speaker is built around KEF's 12th-generation 6.5-inch Uni-Q driver with Metamaterial Absorption Technology, and it marks the debut of the company's patent-pending Velocity Control Technology, which KEF says widens the sweet spot while keeping distortion low, absorbing 99 percent of unwanted rear sound for a cleaner result.

The design is central to the appeal, continuing what the brand calls its legacy of sculptural speakers with an organic, rounded shape that is meant to do acoustic work as well as visual, using a low-diffraction profile and a flexible decoupling chassis. Power comes from a combination of a 100W Class AB and a 280W Class D current-drive amplifier per speaker, which the company says delivers high output.

On connectivity, the LS LUXE is built on KEF's W2 Wireless Platform, supporting high-fidelity lossless formats up to 24-bit/384kHz and multi-room audio, with streaming through services including Tidal and Amazon Music via Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, QPlay, AirPlay and Google Cast. It also offers a full range of wired connections, HDMI eARC, analogue, optical and coaxial, a dedicated subwoofer output on each speaker, and playback from local NAS drives or music servers, supporting lossless formats up to 24-bit/384kHz PCM and DSD.

The LS LUXE comes in three colourways, Dusk Titanium, Eclipse Black and Mineral White, and each speaker ships with the C3 Remote, finished with an aluminium top plate, backlit buttons and a customisable favourite button.
