Q Acoustics Completes Its 3000c Range with the Slim, Room-Filling 3040c

British audio brand Q Acoustics has added a new floorstanding speaker to its award-winning 3000c range, the 3040c, aimed at listeners who want to step up from a bookshelf speaker without surrendering floor space or the look of a room. The company developed it, it says, in response to demand from its own community for a slimmer, more agile floorstander at an accessible price, and it positions the model as the final piece that completes the series.

The 3040c inherits the technology that runs through the rest of the range. It uses the brand's C3 Continuous Curved Cone driver platform, a mid/bass cone whose curved profile is designed to combine the bass response of a straight conic cone with the midrange clarity of a flared one, and the speaker carries twin 4.75-inch C3 drivers for what the company describes as controlled bass, expressive midrange and a smoother handover to the high-frequency driver. The tweeter borrows from the brand's flagship Concept series, using a hermetically sealed, mechanically isolated "floating" design that, according to Q Acoustics, reduces distortion and allows a lower crossover point.

Inside the cabinet, the brand's Point to Point bracing reinforces the areas most prone to low-end vibration, and its Helmholtz Pressure Equaliser tubes are fitted to counter the internal pressure build-up that can colour the sound, both intended to keep the image focused and the soundstage controlled at any volume.

The design is meant to recede rather than announce itself, with clean lines, the brand's signature curved profile, no visible joints or bolts, and a one-piece satin nickel and satin chrome driver trim. It comes in four finishes, Satin Black, Satin White, Pink Oak and Claro Walnut, sits on a solid aluminium stabiliser base with top-adjustable spikes, and carries a low-profile terminal panel with recessed binding posts for close-to-wall placement.

The Q Acoustics 3040c is available now in all four finishes.
