At-home slushie machines have become a genuine kitchen appliance category over the past two years, largely on the back of the Ninja Slushi, which sells at £299.99. Salter, the British kitchen appliance brand, has now entered the same space with its own Slushie Maker, priced at £179.99 and built around a similar operating premise.
The machine has a 2.5-litre tank and a 200W built-in cooling system that freezes liquids directly without the need for added ice. Pour in a premixed liquid, select a program, and the machine handles the freezing and texturing from there. Five preset programs cover slushies, frozen cocktails, frappes, milkshakes, and chilled juice, each optimizing for a different texture and temperature. A digital display at the front shows the current drink temperature as it drops, and a sliding scale allows manual adjustment of both temperature and texture within each setting.
Dispensing is via a self-serve pulldown handle at the front with a removable drip tray underneath. A rinse mode runs warm water through the system for cleaning. The standout feature for extended use is the 12-hour Stay Cold function, which holds the contents at between 3°C and 7°C once a batch is made, removing the need to use the machine immediately after preparation. Surfaces are wipe-clean, and the drip tray is removable.
The Salter Slushie Maker is priced at £179.99 and is available now from salter.com and Amazon UK, with a launch discount bringing it to £164.99 at time of writing.
