Five years after working from home became a permanent fixture for a significant portion of India's workforce, the furniture industry is beginning to treat it that way. Ergonomic office furniture, long considered a corporate procurement decision, is increasingly being bought by individuals setting up serious home workspaces. Humanscale's entry into the Indian home office segment is a signal of where that market is heading.

The New York-based brand, whose products are already in use across Indian offices of Google, Visa, Nvidia, Cisco, and JPMC for their work-from-home teams, has made its range available for individual buyers through its authorized India distribution partner, S Cube Ergonomics, based in Bengaluru. The move positions Humanscale is squarely in a segment that has grown considerably but remains underdeveloped in terms of premium options.

The products themselves are not new. The World Task Chair, the Nova Task Light, and the M2.1 Monitor Arm are established parts of the brand's global range. What is new is the deliberate targeting of home buyers rather than corporate procurement teams and the introduction of the Float Mini, a compact sit/stand desk that won the Red Dot 2025 Best of the Best award, designed specifically with residential spaces in mind rather than open-plan offices. The eFloat Quattro, a four-leg sit/stand desk, is listed as coming soon to India.

The broader context is straightforward. Prolonged sitting, poor lighting, and incorrectly positioned screens are well-documented contributors to physical strain and reduced productivity. These are problems that corporate offices addressed years ago through ergonomic investment. Home offices, by and large, have not. The average WFH setup in India still relies on dining chairs, kitchen tables, and laptop screens at the wrong height. The market for products that address that gap properly, at a premium price point, is only beginning to be served.

The full Humanscale range is available at their Ergonomics Experience Centre in Bangalore and across 15 multi-brand stores in India.
