YETI built its reputation on keeping things cold. Now it is turning its attention to heat. The brand best known for its bulletproof coolers and insulated drinkware has just launched the Carbon Steel Pan 12, a 12-inch carbon steel skillet that signals how seriously YETI is taking its cookware ambitions.
The new pan is a larger sibling to the existing 10-inch carbon steel skillet already in the lineup, but it is not simply a size upgrade. The 12-inch version adds a helper handle, a practical addition for anyone lifting heavier one-pan meals like paella or a Sunday roast straight from the campfire to the table, and it arrives pre-seasoned and made from nitrided carbon steel for improved rust resistance and a naturally non-stick cooking surface that develops further with use.

What makes carbon steel worth paying attention to is where it sits between cast iron and stainless steel. It heats faster than cast iron, is considerably lighter, and responds to temperature changes more quickly, making it genuinely versatile across a wide range of cooking styles. YETI says the pan works on every heat source imaginable, induction, gas, electric, oven, grill and open campfire, and the stainless steel handle is designed to stay cooler during cooking, which anyone who has grabbed a cast iron handle without a cloth will appreciate more than most.
This launch follows YETI's acquisition of Butter Pat Industries, the American luxury cast iron brand, in 2024, and represents a clear expansion of the brand's cookware territory beyond the premium cast iron range that followed that deal. Carbon steel is lighter, more accessible and appeals to a broader audience, particularly those drawn to outdoor cooking and live-fire setups. YETI is clearly positioning cookware as a serious category rather than a brand extension.
The Carbon Steel Pan 12 is available now on YETI's US and UK websites, priced at $180 and £180 respectively. The 10-inch version remains available at $150 and £150.
