The launch of the Balloons Collection by Brokis at Innovative Design Studio marks another quiet moment of dialogue between global craftsmanship and India’s growing appetite for thoughtful design. Created by Czech designers Lucie Koldova and Dan Yeffet, the collection has long been celebrated for its ability to make light feel weightless, a balance of precision, restraint, and glassmaking mastery.

Each piece in the series is deceptively simple. Two independently hand-blown glass sections are fused so seamlessly that they appear to form a single, continuous volume. Within that volume, a hand-pressed metal reflector is suspended mid-air, polished to mirror light rather than scatter it. The result is an object that seems to hold its atmosphere, at once transparent and solid, sculptural and functional. The inspiration is as literal as it is poetic: a hot-air balloon frozen in ascent, an idea caught between air and form.

The production of these domes challenges the limits of Bohemian glassblowing. The largest shade challenges the scale at which molten glass can be shaped by hand, demanding both technical control and intuition. The clarity, thickness, and gentle curvature of the glass are what define its quality, traits that few workshops can execute at this level. In each piece, the craft itself becomes part of the design narrative.

Available in three sizes—small, medium, and large—the collection is suitable for pendant or floor placement. The Balloons Collection transitions easily between residential and hospitality interiors. When illuminated, the diffused glow accentuates the smooth gradient of the dome, casting light that feels soft yet substantial. When unlit, the object holds its own as a sculptural presence, lending proportion and depth to the surrounding space.

For Innovative Design Studio (IDS), which represents a carefully curated portfolio of international lighting brands in India, the arrival of Brokis extends a continuing exploration of light as a medium of design rather than decoration. The studio, part of the Innovative Design Group (IDG), has built its identity around merging technology, craftsmanship, and spatial sensibility. Each collaboration, whether with Italian, Scandinavian, or Czech manufacturers, reflects a belief that lighting is architecture’s most silent yet expressive layer.

Speaking about the studio’s approach, a representative from IDS describes their focus as creating “environments where light doesn’t just illuminate; it defines the emotion of a space.”

Brokis’ work finds natural resonance within India’s contemporary interiors, where designers and homeowners increasingly value handcrafted detail and material authenticity. Its language is modern yet timeless, global yet rooted in traditional glassmaking heritage.

At IDS’s Okhla showroom in New Delhi, the collection sits within a broader curation of luxury lighting solutions that span pendant systems, architectural fixtures, and bespoke installations. The space itself is designed like a gallery, allowing each light to occupy its own visual rhythm. Visitors encounter not a catalogue of products but a sequence of atmospheres, each revealing how light interacts with texture, color, and silence.

With Brokis Balloons, that philosophy becomes tangible. The piece doesn’t dominate a room; it completes it. It proves that the best design is often the most unassuming—the kind that simply belongs.
