Lenscape Kerala, the national travelling photography exhibition currently touring across India, arrives in Mumbai from 12 to 14 February 2026 at Jehangir Art Gallery. Presented as a visual journey through one of India’s most layered regions, the exhibition brings together photography, travel, and cultural documentation in a concise, accessible format.

Featuring 100 curated photographs by 10 leading travel and media photographers from across India, Lenscape Kerala offers a wide-ranging portrait of the state. The photographers travelled through Kerala to document its heritage architecture, rural life, backwaters, festivals, coastal landscapes, wildlife, monsoon rhythms, traditional sports, spirituality, and food culture. Together, the works build a textured reading of Kerala that goes beyond postcard imagery and into lived environments.

The exhibition is curated by Uma Nair, art historian, author, and curator, who has shaped the presentation as both a cultural archive and a contemporary travel narrative. Speaking about the project, Nair reflects on how each photographer brings a distinct lens to the state, capturing moments that range from landscapes and rituals to everyday street life and faith practices, forming a collective visual language rooted in observation and respect.

From architectural symbolism and sacred spaces to the backwaters of Kuttanad and the dramatic terrain of the Western Ghats, the photographs balance colour and black-and-white works, focusing on light, texture, form, and human presence. Street scenes, coastal humidity, ageing buildings, and festival traditions appear with equal weight, allowing viewers to pause and observe details often missed in fast-paced travel.

Lenscape Kerala travels to ten Indian cities, including New Delhi, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Surat, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata. The exhibition opened in New Delhi on 20 January 2026 and will conclude in Surat on 31 March 2026. Along the way, curator-led walkthroughs and artist interactions accompany select editions, encouraging conversations around photography, ecology, heritage, and responsible tourism.

An initiative by the Department of Tourism, Government of Kerala, Lenscape Kerala functions as a public-facing cultural outreach project. Through photography-led storytelling, it aims to translate visual admiration into deeper curiosity, meaningful travel, and sustained engagement with Kerala’s landscapes and communities.

Participating Photographers: Aishwarya Sridhar, Amit Pasricha, H Satish, Kounteya Sinha, Manoj Arora, Natasha Kartar Hemrajani, Saibal Das, Saurabh Anand Chatterjee, Shivang Mehta, Umesh Gogna
