Pòta! Wins the Prestigious LIT Lighting Design Awards 2025

Catellani & Smith’s newest lighting family, Pòta!, has been recognised at the LIT Lighting Design Awards 2025, securing one of the most respected honours in the global lighting industry. The award places Pòta! among this year’s standout innovations, highlighting its thoughtful balance of material craft, technical refinement, and contemporary aesthetics.
The LIT Awards jury, made up of designers, technical experts, and lighting professionals, evaluated more than 1,000 submissions from 62 countries. Their assessment focused on innovation, sustainability, and emotional impact — criteria that Pòta! met with clarity and confidence. The collection stood out for the way it reinterprets handcrafted lighting through a modern lens, pairing glass and brass with updated LED filament technology.
At the centre of the series is a lighting unit developed specifically for Pòta!, designed to open up new possibilities in form and composition. The structures feel light and slender, yet still hold a sense of volume and presence. Each piece arranges the lighting elements in a way that plays between order and looseness, giving the fixtures a quiet energy when lit.
The family includes three models, each with its own architectural attitude:
Pendant versions
The pendant comes in two sizes — 50 cm with 18 ELV LEDs, and 85 cm with 36 ELV LEDs. Both use a spheroidal brass structure and feature a white hemispherical base paired with a blue cable. The pendant is also offered in a plug-in version and a floor-to-ceiling installation system, complete with Catellani & Smith’s signature anvil-shaped counterweight. The variety of formats allows the fixture to work as a single statement or as part of larger compositions.
Wall version
The wall model introduces a different expression. Here, thin brass rods intersect to form a geometric pattern that feels dynamic rather than rigid. It carries 20 ELV LEDs and comes with a wall-mounted base and plug driver. The modular nature of the design allows for single-piece installations or expanded arrangements that turn the wall into a graphic, illuminated surface.
Across the entire family, Pòta! demonstrates Catellani & Smith’s ongoing ability to blend craftsmanship with technical innovation. The award acknowledges not only the design but also the clear intention behind it: lighting that feels handcrafted, atmospheric, and adaptable to both small rooms and expansive architectural spaces.
